Where Jordan really excels as a storyteller is in her crafting of the relationship that develops between Raven and Marnie. A tender love grows between them in the cottage, but Marnie still fears the marriage bed. Thanks Catie for telling me to read it! This book worked because it gave me what I want from EVERY book--likable main characters, believable character development and a story that deserves to be told.

Honestly, I never would have picked this book up on my own, let alone finished it. These are among the most powerful scenes in the book, such cruelty levied against a young woman simply for being different.
